Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior S-190
The S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior course provides foundational knowledge of wildland fire behavior, the fundamental principles of fire behavior, including how fuel, weather, and topography influence the ignition and spread of wildfires. Designed for professionals in fire management, this course emphasizes safety and situational awareness in wildland fire environments. Instruction covers critical concepts such as fire behavior terminology, the fire environment triangle, and fireline safety practices.
S-130 Firefighter Training course
The S-130 Firefighter Training course is a comprehensive introduction to the core skills and knowledge required for entry-level wildland firefighters. This course prepares personnel to work effectively and safely in wildland fire suppression operations, focusing on both individual responsibilities and team coordination in dynamic fire environments. Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on field exercises, this courses teaches essential firefighting tactics, fireline construction, and fire shelter deployment. Topics include the use of firefighting tools and equipment, safety protocols, situational awareness, and communication on the fireline.
L-180 Human Factors on the Fireline
The L-180 Human Factors on the Fireline course focuses on the critical role human performance plays in wildland fire operations. This course introduces the basic concepts of human factors, situational awareness, and decision-making in high-stress environments. It emphasizes the importance of leadership, teamwork, and communication in maintaining safety and effectiveness on the fireline. The course examines how human behavior, stress, and fatigue can influence decision-making, interpersonal interactions, and overall performance during wildland fire incidents. It also covers key tools and techniques for recognizing and mitigating human errors, maintaining situational awareness, and fostering a strong safety culture.
Project Management for Wildlife Conservation | WildTeam UK
Given current rates of biodiversity loss and degradation of natural environments, conservation work has never been more important. However, the time and resources available to conduct conservation work is limited. This means that conservationists are under pressure to work as efficiently as possible, making the most of limited resources to achieve maximum impact in the least amount of time. Furthermore, conservationists must achieve impact despite often having to deal with huge complexity, continual uncertainty, and change. To help them manage their work in the face of these challenging conditions, conservationists need an effective project management approach. However, previously developed project management guidelines are better suited for other sectors, such as business, health, and development. The purpose of the Project Management for Wildlife Conservation best practice, therefore, is to provide conservationists with a standardised approach that will help them to manage their work efficiently, and in a way that achieves maximum impact.
Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation | The Nature Conservancy
The Conservation Standards (CS) are a widely adopted set of principles and practices that bring together common concepts, approaches, and terminology for conservation project design, management, and monitoring. Developed by the Conservation Measures Partnership and regularly updated in collaboration with the broader community, this open-source, strategic process helps conservation teams achieve lasting impact.
HAM Radio Technician License Operator | AARL
To earn the Technician license requires passing one examination totaling 35 questions on radio theory, regulations and operating practices. The license gives access to all Amateur Radio frequencies above 30 megahertz, allowing these licensees the ability to communicate locally and most often within North America. It also allows for some limited privileges on the HF (also called "short wave") bands used for international communications. The General class license grants some operating privileges on all Amateur Radio bands and all operating modes. This license opens the door to world-wide communications.
Incident Command System Level 100 & 200 | FEMA
CS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). IS200, Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, reviews the Incident Command System (ICS), provides the context for ICS within initial response, and supports higher level ICS training. This course provides training on, and resources for, personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within ICS.
The Emergency Management Institute developed its ICS courses collaboratively with:
National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG)
U.S. Department of Agriculture
United States Fire Administration’s National Fire Programs Branch
Master Diver (former Dive Master) | S.C.U.B.A. Schools International (S.S.I)
Experienced professional diver with multiple certifications, including but not limited to Dive Control Specialist, Search and Rescue, Underwater Navigation, Night Diving, Nitrox, and Deep Diving.
Yoga Instructor | Yoga Alliance
Certified and experienced in teaching a variety of yoga-inspired movement courses, including Nidra, Yin, Hatha, Vinyasa, Power, Restorative, as well as various styles of meditation and mindfulness practices.

Sustainability Leadership Program | Sustainable Living Association
Through this program, leaders learn powerful new strategies for enacting leadership that positions sustainability as a driver of organization engagement, innovation, and change-capability. The Sustainability Leadership Program illustrates how businesses can thrive and grow while simultaneously solving some the world's biggest challenges-and how you, as an individual, can make a difference.
Community Wildfire Mitigation Best Practices Training
This national-level training from Coalitions & Collaboratives and the USDA Forest Service (N9073 within the IQCS application) is designed for current or future mitigation specialists, wildfire program leads, and others who work with residents and their communities to reduce wildfire risk. The Mitigation Best Practices training concentrates on science, methods, and tools that will help improve engagement with communities/residents while also helping to eliminate ineffective practices.
Assessing Structure Ignition Potential From Wildfire (ASIP)
This National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) training covers wildfire behavior, structure exposure, and the concepts of the Home Ignition Zone and Structure Ignition Potential. The class is taught by experienced wildland fire specialists and is based on scientific research on how homes and other structures ignite during wildfires and NFPA 1144, Standard for Reducing Ignition Hazards from Wildland Fire. The training is designed to increase understanding and competency in wildland/urban interface fire mitigation, assist wildfire mitigation and prevention professionals in assessing risks to individual homes in wildland, forested, or grassland areas, and also to encourage and make recommendations for corrective mitigation measures to residents, property managers, and homeowner associations
